Tree Protection During Irrigation Installs

We have a fairly comprehensive tree protection ordinance during construction projects but a spot where I see it lacking is during the installation of irrigation systems. I've reached out to neighboring communities with similar ordinances, but no one is requiring anything towards tree protection for irrigation. I'm wondering if anyone has an ordinance that addresses new irrigation systems and how that's working for you. I'm in zone 5b and depth of irrigation systems seems pretty variable based on companies; 8"-14" seems typical.  Minimum approach distances to trees over a certain dbh or similar criteria.
