  1. @John Letorori any close up pics of leaves, buds, twigs, flowers or fruit? A pic of the overall form and a general location of the tree always helps narrow things down as well.
  2. @John Letorori Araucaria spp for sure. Looks like A. heterophylla due to it's straight, upright growth, but it's hard to tell it and A. columnaris apart at this age and they're commonly mistaken for each other and mislabeled at nurseries. A. columnaris will generally have narrow, columnar form and will have a distinct lean towards the equator, whereas A. heterophylla has pyramidal form and typically no lean.

    I hate to see the tree ID room so empty, so I figured I'd start things out in here with a quiz. I just learned about this species last week while visiting the JC Raulston Arboretum in Raleigh, NC. Tree is native to the southeastern US.
