Announcing two USDA Forest Service grants for disadvantaged communities that are funded through the Inflation Reduction Act and have an application deadline of December 29, 2023. One grant is for established programs, and one is for emerging programs. Grant Guidelines & Applications Grant for Emerging Programs - Funding from $15,000 to $55,000; Projects must be completed by June 30, 2025. Emerging Urban Forestry Program Guidelines & Application

Grant for Established Programs - Funding from $55,000 to $500,000 for projects benefiting 100,000 or less in population based on census tracts OR up to $1 million for projects benefiting over 100,000 in population. Projects must be completed by April 1, 2028. Established Urban Forestry Program Guidelines & Application

Disadvantaged Communities Requirement (both grants) A requirement of this federal grant program is a focus on disadvantaged communities as defined by The Council On Environmental Quality’s Climate and Economic Justice Screening Tool (CEJST). Click on this link to find out your community’s gray disadvantaged districts. Many communities have at least a portion of their municipality defined as disadvantaged and are encouraged to apply. Projects funded through this opportunity will receive a full match waiver, with the requirement that 100% of the program benefits are delivered to disadvantaged communities.
